TEFL

A TEFL Weekend explained...

So you have seen what a TEFL course means, and that it can be used both in the UK and abroad in employment.

However, you may well have a few remaining questions as to what to expect from attending one of our TEFL courses. The following information will hopefully answer these questions...

WHY YOU SHOULD USE OUR COURSE
Our TEFL course has been designed & is delivered by qualified teachers. In addition to their teaching skills the course designers have a wealth of experience in teaching English as a foreign language. The hidden pitfalls of TEFL teaching are highlighted and helpful hints and tips are signposted during your course.

Established over ten years ago we have passed our knowledge onto thousands of students, many of these going on to live & work overseas.

Testimonials are available on request.

TEFL AWARDED BY...
Kristall International Training & Education

Note: Any 20 hour TEFL course sold as awarded by a 'recognised body' is done so on a false pretence. These certificates are issued without a recognised standards body. At Kristall & FAATW we take pride in the experience & qualifications of our tutors and assure you that this course is of the highest standard.

Only TESOL & CELTA courses have a regulating body. These courses are the next level up the TEFL ladder and will require additional study. They will also involve a scheme of assessment before the qualification is awarded. Naturally these courses are more expensive.

TEFL COURSES - WHERE & WHEN
Our TEFL courses cover a wide area of the UK. In the main we use hotel & conference centres, but can use any venue where there are parking facilities, a pleasant room and good access. Locations are generally comfortable, quiet and conducive to learning.

DURATION
The basic practical part of the TEFL course will last between 16 and 20 hours over the weekend. An additional 10 hours home book study is also included in the cost can be undertaken at leisure after the course. Additional modules are available to upgrade your certification. Details can be found on the TEFL structure & pricing webpage.

The course itself breaks down over the two days as follows: -
Saturday: 9am Start -> 7/8pm Finish.
Sunday: 9am Start -> 4/5pm Finish.

Although this makes for long days we do incorporate regular refreshment breaks & a lunch break. The course is dynamically structured so that you never spend long on one topic keeping interest fresh.

GROUP COMPOSTION
Our TEFL courses are based on small groups of between 8 - 12 people. Very occasionally there may be less than this. Simply put, this allows you full access to our expert tutors, your questions won't get drowned out or ignored and you benefit from near exclusive tuition. We don't operate large groups; this way individuals do not feel intimidated. Likewise with a large group, the tutor will only have time to deliver the course and not spend time answering specific questions. Many individuals on the course are new to the experience of TEFL and will have many questions regarding where to look for work and who to contact. By keeping our groups small, we can cater for these requirements.

During the two days the group is regularly sub-divided. You can swap ideas freely and get to know all of your course companions. This makes the course as informal and relaxed as possible. This approach also helps to form bonds with people who have similar interests.

TESTING
There are absolutely no tests involved with this course. All we ask is that you fully attend all 20 hours of the course, and get involved in all the activities. So don't worry about exams or tough question & answer sessions - they simply don't arise.

FACILITIES
All our venues provide lavatory facilities. They will also provide a limited amount of coffee & tea, and occasionally some provide biscuits. We do not provide lunch. Please bring your own food with you, ensuring that all consumables do not perish, as fridge/freezer facilities are not always available.

CAR PARKING
Car parking is available at all our venues. Generally this is free of charge, however on some occasions a charge maybe payable.

WORKING USING YOUR TEFL CERTIFICATE
TEFL certificates can be used throughout the world. We have past students working in all 5 continents, in the developed & developing world as well as at home in the UK.

Through From All Around the World you can apply to take foreign students on a One or Two to One basis. Using your TEFL skills to provide teaching for set periods over a specific time period (normally 13 nights).
Typically this may be 2/3 hours a day (& a total of 30 hours).

Payment for this type of tuition involving a student/s living in with the family is £686 to £1572 per stay.

We are gradually extending the areas we are working with and expanding our countries to bring students from. To help increase the number of weeks worked in a year, as many students only visit the UK in holiday periods, we have increased the age of students up to 60 years. We have TEFL teachers from all walks of life teaching from home. From mothers who want a job that will work around them and the family to retired professionals, working teachers etc.

Other options in the UK involve working in Language Schools where you will work in a classroom providing tuition for multiple students. You must be aware that this type of work may be restricted to holiday periods (especially the summer holidays of foreign students).

If you wish to work overseas you can use your TEFL for home tuition (and as a native speaker you may well find yourself in demand!), or you can apply to the various language schools, which can be found in many of the large cities abroad.
