TEFL Testimonials from Europe

We have included in this section letters recieved from former Kristal graduates who have gone on to work in Europe using our TEFL certificate.

Berlin

Since I took place in the TEFL course two years ago, I have been teaching for a few different schools in Berlin, Germany. I now have enough students and contacts so that I can live comfortably from my earnings. I couldn’t have gotten this far without my TEFL certificate.

Dear Brian

I hope you are well and still continuing with your courses, which I enjoyed immensely.
I am writing to you because I am going out to the Balearic Islands at the end of March of this year and wondered if you knew of any English schools I could work for in this area.
I am sailing down there with my boyfriend and ultimately we are aiming for Majorca where we hope to stay for a while.
Hopefully you will be able to get back to me with some positive news.
Thank you once again for a very enjoyable and informative weekend. It was great to meet so many like minded people of different ages who were all wanting to change their lives and travel and work abroad.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely
Madeline H

Dear Brian

Just a note to say thank you very much for a very enjoyable but informative weekend. It was very useful and inspiring.
After sending lots of e-mails and letters I have been accepted by the Cambridge School of English to go and teach in Warsaw in Poland! The coach leaves London on Wednesday so I am now busy getting ready to go.
Thanks again.

Hi Brian

Well it was great in Spain, there was plenty of work and I had my own private lessons as well, just like you said. One of my private students was training to be a UN lawyer and I was able to take him right through his first certificate. Thanks for all your help and getting me through your course so I was able to start a new adventure in my life. Hopefully next year I’ll be teaching in Japan, China or somewhere else in Asia.
Apart from letting know how well it went in Spain, so you can pass it on to your new students, I was hoping you could send me a copy of my certificate as I lost mine and I’m back in Britain for the summer looking for teaching work, I promise to look after it this time!!!
I attended your course in Brighton June 2000, I hope everything is going well with you. Good to see you are still doing your course, look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Brian

Just to let you know that we are moving to Italy in two weeks, as both Lisa and I managed to secure jobs in Rome. We are determined to finish the module 2 home study pack, and will do so in Rome. We will send it to you from there and hopefully you will send us our certificates.

Please drop us a line and let us know if that’s ok with you.
Kind regards
Paolo

Hi Brian

Well I did it…. I am in Poland - Katowice, teaching English to small groups and 1 to 1’s. Thank you. I found the job on the Internet. I got a phone call on Tuesday offering me the position. Wednesday I received the contract, Thursday I faxed it to them and ‘Hey Presto’ I was in Poland Friday ready to teach on Monday!

Its been really good so far a little bit quiet – as in my social life but this is changing for the better and soon I will want it to be quiet again! The Polish people are very friendly and I am ‘very slowly’ learning some Polish words. Anyway thanks again, I really enjoyed the course and found it very useful, and it has given me the opportunity to work here in Katowice.

Dear Brian

We really enjoyed the weekend TEFL course in November, do you remember us? - the gigglers!!! As a result in January, we gained positions in Greece – Thank you.

We are on the island of ‘Evia’ in Southern Greece, in the city of Halkida. It’s a really nice coastal city, which is 70 km from Athens.

The jobs require teaching a range of ages from 8 to adults. Teaching is based entirely on course books.

We have been asked to find replacements for next September and, if possible, for June, July and August for summer school.

We thought we’d contact you because we’re sure that you’ll know plenty of people of people who want jobs abroad. We think these jobs would be suitable for people who have taught before, as they need good classroom discipline, as the kids are lively. They also need a degree certificate.

It is also possible that 2 or more people could work in the same area, within walking distance. The pay isn’t fantastic, but it’s enough to live on fairly well. The food and alcohol is cheap – a definite bonus!! The accommodation is also very good.

This would be an excellent opportunity for somebody wishing to gain teaching experience in preparation for future, better-paid jobs. It is also a good base for exploring Greece, especially the islands and Athens.

If you can find anybody who’s interested, you can contact us on the above address in Greece. We will be home between 20th April and 3rd May if further details are required.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Yours faithfully
Vicky G

Dear Brian

Just a quick not to say how much I enjoyed the course in Bristol on 2/3rd February. The whole weekend was very informative, lots of fun and I feel I have learnt some great techniques that I will be able to put to good use. I am now waiting to here when I am flying back to Crete, and hope to put to good use my TEFL training when I get there!

Thanks again for a great course, and I will keep in touch.
Regards
Claire C

Hi Brian

This is Frances from TEFL course in Nottingham in May.

What a lot of jobs on tefl.com! I applied for all sorts and had a phone call from Italy which nearly made me incoherent with excitement. However nothing came of that. More applications made with no result.

Finally thought I’d better write my covering letter in Spanish. Large chunks coped from ‘Teach Yourself Business Spanish’ and I received an email inviting me for an interview, either in London or Barcelona. I’ve seen London, so chose Barcelona and fly out after the Bank Holiday.

Exiting innit?
Have you made a mark in Granada yet?
Frances

Hello Brian

We thought you might like an update on how we are getting on in France.

Sally got a job last week, at Inlingua in Orleans. She was passing their office on Monday morning and called to see if there were any vacancies. They gave her an initial interview that morning, and a second interview Wednesday, after which they offered her a contract. She started her training on the Thursday and they are letting her teach her first student this afternoon. The ‘clients’ are all business people, one-to-one or small groups, usually at the office in Orleans. She’s guaranteed as much as her old full – time secretarial job in Nottingham. She’s really enjoying it and I have to admit, I’m a bit envious. She still has a couple of private pupils as well.

We’re enjoying living in Orleans, it’s a very nice city and don’t miss the UK at all except perhaps family ties. We’re back in the UK at the beginning of October to take our final OU French Diploma exams.

Sinceres salutations / Best regards
